Cantaloupe Granita Recipe
Cantalopes are in season during the summer and are sweet and juicy. Making it a perfect canidate for a frozen dessert. Granita is very similar to a sorbet or icy, but its method is different. Granitas do not require any fancy equiptment to make, all you need is a blender or food processor. Then the texture is formed by scraping the frozen mixture so it resembles shaved ice. You can use Basil or Mint or both for this recipe. Both are delicious! This is a guilt free dessert that will surely impress everyone :)
1/2 of a cantalope, rough choped
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons agave or honey
8-10 leaves of basil or mint, torn by hand
step 1- put all ingredients in the blender and puree until smooth
step 2- pour cantalope mixture into a shallow dish uncovered
step 3- stir mixture every hour until it resembles a slushy
step 4- cover with a lid or syran wrap once it's frozen
step 5- scrap granita with a fork and spoon into a bowl
